Eighteen months ago, as the economic crisis was at its most severe, the situation for ourselves and our customers was strained. Today, we can look back with satisfaction: thanks to the loyalty of our customers and the extraordinary commitment of our staff, 2009 was a successful year for COMIT. Two results are worth special mention. Firstly, we were able to report a record order intake of over CHF 400 million. And secondly, we were able to achieve a significant improvement in customer satisfaction. Both are important results for the sustainable growth of our company.
What challenges do the coming months hold? Our customers gave us an enormous vote of confidence in 2009. We want to live up to these expectations and fulfil our service promise. In operating services, in particular, we will again invest several million Swiss francs in the improvement of our systems and processes in 2010.
We must continue to pay due regard to sector trends as well as outsourcing solutions for infrastructure services and back office processes. In this area, we are working together with our sister company Sourcag on creative solutions. We will also extend our service portfolio in the fields of service and test management.
In contrast to business performance on our domestic market, however, international business, in particular in the field of investment management, has been hit hard by the financial crisis. For us, one thing is clear: international business continues to be of strategic importance to COMIT. We are continuing to pursue our target markets of Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and Singapore. Our aim is to systematically hone our existing service portfolio and adapt it to the needs of the market.
People are at the heart of what our business is about. It is a special concern of mine to ensure that we gear ourselves even more closely to the needs of our customers and partners as well as COMIT staff. With the help of various cultural initiatives aimed at promoting the human aspect of our business, we will strengthen the attractiveness of COMIT as an employer and enhance our customer focus.
Meeting individual needs was also a focus of the re-designed COMIT Report. As a customer, business partner or any interested party, you can now individually compile company information via the website and save it as a printable document or print it out. The content will be continually updated, and we will significantly reduce paper consumption. I’m pleased that we have succeeded in implementing a real innovative step forward with “my COMIT profile”.
